Native born South African cellist Jacques-Pierre Malan received his latest cello education from the aspiring Israeli cellist Amit Peled including two full scholarships for a Graduate Performance Diploma in Solo and Chamber Music, and a Masters of Music Degree in Pedagogical and Performing arts to the to the oldest Music Conservatory in the United States, the Peabody Institute of John Hopkins University. Malan now regularly performs as soloist and chamber musician across the United States, Europe
and South Africa. Recent venues include the Peabody Conservatory, Kennedy Centre, Phillips Collection, National Press Club DC, Carnegie Weil recital Hall, Chautauqua theatre and Yale Gordon Center of the Performing Arts. Malan has also performed in Germany and Holland in notable concert halls such as the Philharmonica in Berlin, the Beethoven Haller in Bonn and the Amsterdam Conservatorium.

As concerto artist Malan appeared as soloist with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Kwazulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa and the Peabody Conductors Orchestra performing the cello concertos by Dvorak, Schumann,
Elgar and Tchaikovsky. Malan was further invited to play for the funeral of Nelson Mandela as a member of the KwazuluNatal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Malan won several national and international music competitions awards. Recent awards include the Baltimore Music Club Competition in 2014 (1 st prize), Yale Gordon Competition in 2015 (3 rdprize), Peabody Honors Ensemble competition 2015, the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival Overseas Bursary Competition 2015 (2 nd prize), Getting to Carnegie 2016 (2 nd prize).

In his spare time Malan works with various new music organizations in Baltimore such as “Joystar Studios Incorporation”, “Baltimore Bows” and “Creative Access” to form community engagement services which include fundraising concerts for the lesser privilege, concerts at psychiatric institutes, jails and Hospital for Cancer patients, and elementary music teaching. Malan also gives numerous solo recital tours to various Elder Hostel residences across Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York and Florida on a monthly basis.

Malan currently resides in Baltimore and is employed at “Chamber Encounters”, “Peabody Prepatory”, “Friends of Chamber Music Concert Series” (as Artist in Residence) in Parkville Maryland, the "Embassy Concert Series" under Jerome Barry and Joystar Studios Incorparation. Malan also regularly performs as an Orchestral member with the “Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra”, and the “Mid Atlantic Symphony Orchestra”.
