🌟 Program Note

Presented in collaboration with the Art Music Society, an organization devoted to making great music accessible and alive in every setting — where artistry, intellect, and emotion meet in dialogue.

The evening begins in light with Mozart’s Piano Trio in G Major, K. 564, a work of pure elegance and intimacy.
Here, melody and conversation flow effortlessly — the violin, cello, and piano exchanging phrases with grace and affection. It is music that speaks of balance, joy, and the serenity of the Classical spirit.

From that radiant world we enter the soundscape of Nina Ĺ enk, whose Lento (Passacaglia) and Sensibile ed Inquieto transform the trio into a vessel of introspection.
Her music moves between silence and intensity — ancient form meeting modern voice — inviting the listener to experience time itself as breath, repetition, and renewal.

The journey concludes with Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 66, a work of passion and transcendence.
Its fiery opening leads to a radiant finale inspired by the chorale “Vor deinen Thron tret’ ich hiermit” (“Before Thy Throne I Now Appear”).
It is music of faith and exaltation — where human longing rises into divine light.

Across these three voices — Mozart’s grace, Šenk’s contemplation, Mendelssohn’s devotion — the piano trio becomes not just a form, but a vessel of spirit: three instruments, one soul.
