🎻 Cello Mania — Vantage Columbia Series

Cello Mania begins and ends with two exciting sets of variations built on the same theme by Rossini. Paganini’s Variations on “Dal tuo stellato soglio” from Mosè in Egitto open the program with dazzling virtuosity, while Martinů’s Variations on a Theme of Rossini, H. 290 close it with wit and color, forming the “pillars” of the evening. Between them are Piatti’s Tarantella, Op. 23, Fauré’s Élégie in C minor, Op. 24, and Chopin’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 65 — a journey from fiery energy to deep lyricism and noble expression.
