✡️ From Prayer to Dance: A Journey of the Jewish Soul

Every melody in this program is a doorway into the Jewish heart — where sorrow and joy, exile and return, are forever intertwined. From Mendelssohn’s Sonata in D Major, where the cello prays in song, to Bruch’s Kol Nidrei, which gathers the centuries of repentance into a single breath, the evening begins in reflection and devotion.

Through Popper’s Concert-Polonaise and Tarantella, the music rises from meditation to celebration — faith transformed into movement, the soul remembering that to live is also to dance. Beloved songs like Adon Olam and Yossel, Yossel remind us that holiness can dwell in the laughter of daily life as much as in prayer.

After intermission, Bloch’s Nigun and Prayer speak with prophetic depth, while Marc Lavry’s Suite and the Klezmer Journey lead us home to a land reborn in rhythm and joy. Between the sacred and the spirited, between tears and light, this program reminds us of a timeless truth — that music is the language through which the Jewish soul returns to God.
